This is an honorary post for my friend Sam. She took this photo at the hollywood cemetery - there's another one but she won't let me post it.

As good as the above photo is, I can't help think of a quote from a really bad (but awesome) movie, which i won't name: "If it's an ambulance you got a chance, if it's in a hearse, it's gotta be worse"

I'm working in Santa Monica again and to do my part for the environment I walk or bike to work - it's just shy of 3 miles, not far. these are photos i captured one clear morning.

Waste: Millions of plastic bottles are not recycled and end up in landfills, in parks and along roadways. Nine out of ten plastic water bottles end up as garbage or litter.

That’s 30 million discarded plastic bottles each day— more than 10 billion a year. Large amounts of energy is consumed in manufacture, transportation, and recycling of the bottles.

these are blurred shots of this space age gas station on the corner of olympic and robertson...I haven't quite figured it out...
so....I GOOGLED it...
here's a legit shot of it...clearly not taken w/ the iphone.

At the corner of Olympic and Robertson in Los Angeles, you’ll find a new kind of gas station. It isn’t like an ordinary gas station.

We started with the typical, everyday station on that corner and renovated it in an eco-friendly way — a little greener in its design and materials and in its use of water and energy.

It’s not a prototype “station of the future.” It’s a station for today that’s a little better, a living lab where we can try out ideas for other stations and where people can find ideas they might want to bring into their own lives. It’s a kind of a conversation between BP and people who come into the station, a conversation about how we can both move up a notch on the greencurve.

This idea grew out of BP's commitment to balancing society's need for energy with a responsible approach to the environment. It reflects our belief that small steps in the right direction can make a difference.
